Meet Pixie - a sweet terrier mix from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Pixie was locked in a kennel at an overcrowded shelter when they put out a notice she would be euthanized if she wasn't adopted in 12 hours. That's where our wonderful Texas Partner stepped in and saved the day. She was all over the case, driving hours to pick up Pixie and making sure that pup saw another day. TLBD was able to get Pixie out of the shelter and into a foster home.
Pixie was a pretty sad pup when she was first picked up. It took nearly 4 days before we were able to get a picture we thought was appropriate to share with potential adopters and fosters. Dogs who have been abandoned or abused are frequently in "survivor" mode and forget how to just be a dog. This is why we're so grateful to our network of kind, patient fosters who work with these pups to help them overcome their past and get ready for a happy new life full of pets, treats, and tail wags.
We're happy to write that Pixie is already doing MUCH better and is scheduled to be transported to her foster home in the DMV on January 30th! Carol reports that she is an incredibly sweet girl, who just wants to be pet and loved. We can't wait to help Pixie find her forever home! If you think that may be you - please head over to her profile page on our adoptable dogs section and submit an application!
