Looking for endless kisses and cuddles? Briar’s your girl! Briar is a wonderful dog who loves all people and other dogs. Described as an “all-terrain vehicle,” Briar will happily hike any trail, hopping over logs, crossing streams, and climbing rocks like a dog half her age. She’s just as happy helping with yard work, playing in a kiddie pool in summer (she will stick her head completely under the water!), hanging out inside the house, snuggling with you at night, and in general doing whatever it takes to be by your side as often as possible. Briar knows how to sit, stay, down, be gentle, and leave it. And her specialty is stay. She also does great off leash just walking along, orbiting around you, leaving other dogs alone.

Briar’s current mom says: “She is hands-down the most comical dog I have ever known. Ridiculous facial expressions (with an occasional snaggle-tooth peeking out), various odd happy noises. When you scratch her above the tail, she puts her head down and literally does a forward roll so you can then scratch her chest.”When out on a walk, this 9-year-old girl ignores other dogs or will greet them appropriately if given a chance. She’s lived with other dogs (one smaller than her and one larger) and has mostly done great with them. She has also been living with several cats and rabbits.

Briar’s only fault is her resource guarding. She will guard food, toys, and found items such as garbage from humans and other pets. We think with time and the right family Briar can work on this!Briar’s DNA test revealed Chihuahua and French bulldog in her mix, but she clearly has something taller in her mix too, because she’s 30 lbs—larger than either of those breeds yet still a very nice “portable” size!
