Our Mission.

Black dogs are traditionally passed over for adoption in favor of light coated dogs. Our goal is to help any abandoned, mistreated, or abused dog find the best possible home in the DMV regardless of breed, color, or size. We strive to achieve this goal with compassion, transparency, and a strong sense of responsibility to our dogs, applicants, volunteers, foster families, and supporters.

Our core values.

We aim to be a compassion centered organization, with the understanding that the rescue and adoption process can be deeply personal for our applicants, volunteers, and foster parents. We believe the best thing about dogs is their ability to love anyone as long as they are kind and loving, and strive to represent this same idea at the Little Black Dog Rescue Group.

We accept sometimes, things happen that are out of our control but promise to be open and transparent with our applicants, volunteers, and supporters to guarantee the most positive outcome for our dogs.

We welcome the sincere responsibility in rescuing a dog and understand that responsibility does not end at adoption. We will search to find and support adopters that share in this understanding and are willing to accept this life-long commitment.
